Graduation Requirements
& Pathways to Graduation
23.5 credits are needed for Graduation. Students MUST earn the number of credits listed by each subject area per the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the School Board of Philadelphia, along with one of the Pathways for Graduation.

Graduation Requirements
Credit Requirements
4.0 credits — English
3.0 credits — Mathematics
3.0 credits — Science
4.0 credits — Social Studies
2.0 credits — World Languages
2.0 credits — Arts/ Humanities
4.0 credits — Electives (one required in Math or Science)
1.5 credits — Health and Physical Education
Additionally, all students must complete a Senior Project. This will be a part of the English 4 class.
Promotion Requirements
Promotion from grade to grade is based on credits earned:
- Promotion to 10th grade— 5 credits (4 Core + 1 More)
- Promotion to 11th grade — 11 credits (All Core Subjects Must Be Passed)
- Promotion to 12th grade — 17.5 credits (All Core Subjects Must Be Passed)
- Graduation — 23.5 credits (All Core Subjects Must Be Passed, Senior Project, and 1 PDE Pathway to Graduation)
Core (quality) credits are defined as English, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
Students who are not in their correct grade because of previous failing grades should speak with their counselor to see if they qualify for an accelerated school or enroll in credit recovery.
